Hakko Soldering

Soldering is the process of bonding two or more items with a molten material referred to as solder.  Soldering has existed for thousands of years, and is found everywhere from electronics manufacturing to stained glass fabrication.  With a very diverse user base, soldering equipment covers a broad spectrum, from simple, handheld devices to computerized robotics.

The item below is the Hakko FX888D-23BY, one of our most popular soldering station.

Due to the variety of soldering products available, it is very important to consider your requirements.
  • Are you soldering through-hole components?
  • Are you soldering SMD components?
  • Are you doing rework?
  • Do you need desoldering capability?

Not all soldering equipment is the same, and varies greatly in functionality.  It is important to know what your application(s) would be, so that your purchased iron can do everything you require.  For example, if you deal with surface mount electronics, you need something capable of working with such small parts.  If you are building prototypes and will be frequently removing components, you would want a desoldering function.  Solder forms a hard metal when it cools – without the proper tools, its removal can be difficult.

This is the Hakko FR-300, and is a very popular desoldering kit.

Fume extraction is an important aspect of any soldering setup, as long term exposure to smoke and solder fumes can cause respiratory problems.  Fume extractors range from simple smoke absorbers, to high powered HEPA filtration devices, able to be pinpointed directly over a work space.

Tech Edu carries a full line of soldering equipment, from irons and desoldering stations, to hot air guns and fume extractors.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions at 888-883-2338.  We accept school purchase orders, and have many items in stock for immediate shipment.
