Motic was founded in Hong Kong in 1988 as a manufacturer of conventional compound microscopes. Today the company has expanded its global presence as well as its product line. Motic currently owns 5 subsidiaries in China which carry out all manufacturing, as well as an R&D center employing more than 100 engineers. The company also maintains sales offices in the United States, Canada, Germany and Spain. In 1998 Motic began developing digital microscope technology. This was a crucial point for the company as digital technology marked a new age. The company needed a strong product line in this area to move forward into the new age with success.
Motic currently offers both conventional and digital microscopes. Its conventional offerings are designed for life science, educational, and industrial use and are available in stereo, upright, polarized, metallurgical, and inverted models. Many are available in ESD safe versions. Other models incorporate special features like a common main objective (CMO) Infinity optical system. The Infinity optical system provides distortion-free, three-dimensional and parfocal images throughout the magnification range. Many can incorporate an optional discussion/teaching system as well.
Motic digital microscopes are available in stereo and upright models. These feature built-in digital cameras with CMOS and CCD imaging sensors. Resolution is available up to 3 megapixels. These scopes also feature USB outputs for sending images to a monitor or PC. Certain models are available with multiple outputs.
